John Patrick (JP) Flores is a 2017 2B/SS with a 5-6 135 lb. frame from Valencia, CA who attends Valencia HS. Has a young look with a lean build, plenty of room to fill out as he physically matures and puts on additional muscle. Posted a 7.16 60-yard dash, moves well on the base-paths. From the infield, works to the baseball well with smooth actions. Has quick hands and transfers. Good arm strength across the infield with solid carry and accuracy. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a narrow, upright stance and high hand set. Stays loose throughout swing with good strength and bat speed. Creates natural lift at the point of contact. Developing weight transfer through lower half. On the mound, throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with medium arm action.
Generates some drive off the mound, arm is clean and works well. 11/5 curveball shape that showed depth. Has a high baseball IQ and good baseball instincts. Named to National Underclass West Top Prospect List.
