Dan Smith is a 2016 3B/RHP with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Cranston, RI who attends Cranston High School West. Medium, athletic build with nice present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.10 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, shows nice footwork to and through the ball, shows range to either side, athletic actions on the charge, quick arm from a lower slot with strength and carry across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, starts with a high hand set and upright stance, small leg lift trigger at start of swing. Stays balanced throughout swing, shorter path to the ball with nice extension out front. Line drive swing plane, gets the barrel through the zone with a nice feel for contact, consistent barrel to pull side with quick hands coming through. Very good student.
