2015 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Brad Burns is a 2016 3B/1B/RHP with a 6-3 197 lb. frame from Mason City, IA who attends Clear Lake HS. Athletic, physical build with strength throughout as well as room for additional growth. At bat, employs large stride mechanics from a medium, squared base with a deep hand load. Despite length of mechanics, flashed a short stroke to the ball at times, highlighted by the ability to drive fastballs to the pull field. Will get out and around the baseball at times. Projects to have some power, as well. Defensively, worked out at 1B and general infield. Showed solid footwork around the bag at 1B, turned well to throw to 2B, and showed solid arm strength as well. Workout at SS was again highlighted by good footwork and solid arm strength, though the general actions were a bit stiff at times. Projects very well, physically. Ran a 7.51 60 yard dash. Very good student.
