Ricky Kleban is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Blessed Trinity HS. He has a long athletic build with some projection. Kleban is a two-way prospect whose athleticism and projection give him as good a chance to become a primery outfielder as it does a pitcher. On the mound, Kleban throws from a high leg kick delivery with a quick arm action. He throws a heavy fastball, mostly to the glove side, that touched 82 mph and was 77-82 in range. His curveball had very tight spin at 67 mph and was a good pitch for him and should improve as he throws harder. Kleban was athletic around the mound and fielded his position well. As an outfielder, Kleban ran 6.77 and looked like a potential plus defender with his range and good arm strength. He is a patient hitter who hits out of a tall, balanced stance with limited stride and a a strong swing. Kleban has good bat speed now and the strength and leverage at contact to rifle the ball up the gaps. He hits the ball to all fields and looks like he has hitting instincts. Kleban should be followed both ways and we wouldn't be surprised if he didn't end up being a primary outfielder at the college level.
