Michael Roth is a 2008 1B/P with a 6'1'', 200 lb. frame from Greer, SC who attends Riverside HS. He has a strong frame with long arms and legs and can get stronger in the future. He is a polished hitter with a smooth swing and can work the ball to all fields. Roth didn't show the power that we've seen from him in the past, he seemed content to stay inside the ball and move it around the field and take what he could from the pitcher's. He showed an advanced ability to stay in on left handed hitters and handle off speed pitches and he stays on the ball a long time in his swing. The potential is there to keep expanding his offensive game. Roth is an agile athlete who ran under 7.00 in the 60 and handles himself well around the first base bag. He didn't pitch in Cincinnati but has been a mid 80's southpaw in the past. He his an excellent student who has a verbal commitment to South Carolina.
