Colby Emmertz is a 2018 C/RHP/3B with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Falmouth, ME who attends Falmouth HS. Young, athletic build with broad shoulders and some present strength on build, projects for more. Primary catcher, shows compact actions behind the plate, receives well with soft hands, light actions on feet, explodes out of crouch and gains ground with lower half, effort at release from a short arm on accurate throws to second. Blocks well in dirt. Also pitched, throws from a three-quarter arm slot with a short arm action in the back. Simple mechanics and stays balanced through delivery, works fastball to arm side with occasional arm side run topping 79 mph. Tight spin on 11-5 curveball. Right-handed hitter, starts with a low hand set with a short path to the ball. Uses hands well, line drive swing plane and demonstrates a strong feel for the barrel. Creates consistent contact with ability to hit to all fields. Very good student. Named to National Underclass East Top Prospect List.
