Joseph Lovecchio is a 2009 RHP with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame from Wilbur By the Sea, FL who attends Seabreeze HS. Lovecchio was outstanding in the Metrodome with a heavy fastball that topped out at 91 mph. He used a 3/4 arm angle and a high leg kick in his delivery and looked very professional. His offspeed was also very good using a curveball with a sharp 11/5 break and a change which was very deceptive as he maintained his fastball armspeed. Lovecchio showed great improvement over the past year and it will be interesting to watch him develop even more over the next year. He is also a good student.

Joe Lovecchio is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 6'2", 180 lb frame from Wilbur By The Sea, FL who attends Seabreeze HS. Joe has an projectable athletic build that should fill out nicely over the next few years. He has a good balanced delivery on the mound and his arm really works well. From a two-peice arm action Joe produces solid armside run on his fastball. Joe will show a solid 11 to 5 curveball and really pounds the strike zone with his fastball. He knows how to pitch and there is a lot of of upside for this prospect. At the plate Joe has a short simple swing that allows him to make solid line-drive contact. He has a simple approach and really just needs to add some strength to see his results improve. Joe is a strong student that will be a highest-level college prospect.

Joe Lovecchio is a 2009 RHP/1B from Seabreeze HS in Wilbur By the Sea, FL, with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame. He has an excellent body for a freshman, with good present strength and lots of porjection. Lovecchio has very smooth and fluid pitching mechanics that give him a solid base to improve from over the next few years. His fastball topped out at 84 mph at the showcase from a high 3/4's release point. It had very good running and sinking action at times. Lovecchio's curveball was 69 mph and flashed good spin at times, although he tended to cast it frequently. Lovecchio showed very good command for his age, especially with his fastball, and his smooth mechanics should guarantee that his control stays a strength as he throws harder. Overall, Lovecchio is a very good young pitching prospect and needs to be followed closely. He is a good student off the field.
