Mason Mattlin is a 2008 1B with a 6'3'', 240 lb. frame from Boca Raton FL, who attends West Boca HS. He has an extra large build with good strength and some body softness. Mattlin his from an open stance and has a simple hitting approach. He's looking to lift the ball and pull it on most pitches and has a long, upper cut swing and attacks pitches in the strike zone aggressively. Mattlin uses his hands well at contact and the ball jumps occasionally due to his strength. He looks like a mistake hitter who can drive the ball when he gets his pitch. Defensively, Mattlin plays first base and shows hands around the bag. His range and arm strength is limited. Mattlin is also a good student.
