Jason Mahood is a 2008 SS/3B with a 5'9'', 185 lb. frame from San Rafael CA, who attends Terra Linda HS. He has a compact, somewhat stocky build but has good body control. Mahood has good hands that work for him both at the plate and in the field. He is not the type of player that simply wows you with tools, but he is a good baseball player and will contribute at the D1 level. His swing is direct to the ball, with some bat speed. Mahood's hands have some life and he showed some pop to the pullside and it came pretty easily. His swing place creates some natural carry with the way the ball spins off his bat. He had some of the best game at-bats and game swings in the event. Defensively Mahood is solid, if unspectacular. He has a good arm and his throws track well across the diamond. With soft hands and a nice release, Mahood showed the ability to be a serviceable shortstop and a good overall infielder. Range may be an issue in the middle of the diamond. He plays the game well within his own abilities. Mahood is an outstanding student and a good ballplayer.

Jason Mahood is a 2008 SS/3B from Terra Linda HS in San Rafael, CA with a 5'9", 185 lb. frame. Jason has an athletic build that is well developed. At the plate Jason shows a short swing with some present strength and a line-drive swing plane. He tends to jump out on his front side early and would get a lot more pop if he keeps his weight back better. In the field Jason looked the best at third base. He showed solid infield tools but can get a little faster with his transfer. Jason is a solid player that should attract the attention of many smaller colleges.
