Tanner Collins is a 2017 C/ with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Bean Station , TN who attends Grainger. Medium frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional strength with continued physical development. Primary catcher, gains some ground to the bag while working out of crouch to a tall throwing position. Clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer and released from a compact arm slot. Throws showed some carry to the bag with accuracy topping at 77 mph, best workout pop time of 2.21. Also threw from knees showing a quick releases with some carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with an upright, straight stance and high back elbow set. Lower half works to contact with rotational actions producing some torque. Primarily used a mid-field approach that produced some rising line drives between the outfield gaps. Shows best contact and bat speed when front side trigger is on time. Good student as well.
