Zachary Bunting is a 2008 LHP/1B from Cooper City HS in Cooper City, FL, with a 5'11'', 173 lb. frame. He isn't strong yet but has a projectable build for his age. Bunting has a slow, deliberated delivery and stays above the rubber well. His fastball was mostly in the 73-75 mph range with some left handed fade to it. Bunting's primary pitch was a 64 mph curveball that he varied the release point and break on. He also mixed in a 62 mph change up. Bunting spotted his pitches well and showed some knowledge of pitching while relying on his curveball to get outs. Bunting also plays first base when not pitching. He hits with a "Ken Griffey Jr." style hitting approach with high hands and wrapped bat in back. Bunting should add velocity to his pitches as he starts to mature physically. He is a very good student off the field.
