Bobby Abreu is a 2006 outfielder from Piscataway HS in Piscataway, New Jersey, with an athletic 5'8"/135 pound frame. Bobby has a solid arm from the outfield at 75 mph and showed fluid actions. He has great speed with a 6.89-60 yard and uses that to cover a lot of ground in the outfield. As a left handed hitter, Abreu has a balanced approach at the plate with a slightly closed stance. He makes consistent solid contact and battles at the plate, as he had a 17 pitch game at-bat. Bobby also uses his speed on the bases and showed good base running instincts. He is a solid player and a definite follow. Abreu is a very good student.

Abreu is a very slender junior outfielder from New Jersey that we’ve seen frequently in the past. He’s a strong fundamental player with a game built around speed and aggressive base running. Abreu has a line drive approach at the plate and some bat speed for his size. His hand/eye coordination is excellent and he consistently centers the ball. We don’t see many bunts at showcases but we’d bet that Abreu is a pretty good bunter. If he isn’t, it’s a part of the game that would be a natural for him. Abreu also has shown us a very good eye at the plate. Once on base, it’s a good bet that Abreu is going to try to steal. He has very good quickness and an aggressive approach. Defensively, Abreu is a solid outfielder with good arm strength. He’s a good student who will make some college program a very good leadoff hitter.

Bobby Abreu is a 2006 outfielder from Piscataway, NJ. Abreu has a slim, greyhound style body at 5'8", 135 pounds, and was named to the Underclass Top Prospect Team. He showed impressive speed with a 7.02-60 on the slow track, and was always in the right place in the field. Abreu can run much faster times. He showed good outfield instincts, and a solid 78 mph throwing arm that was extremely accurate. As a left handed hitter, he is extremely aggressive in the hitting zone with a line drive approach. At the next level, Abreu will be a lead-off type hitter with his speed and excellent instincts on the bases. His non stop hustle along with his natural baseball abilities and instincts, make him a definite player to watch. Bobby is a very strong student.

Bobby Abreu -- Abreu is a very slim sophomore outfielder from New Jersey. Note that the Phillies’ Bobby Abreu was 5-10, 145 when he signed with the Astros when he was 15 years old. The New Jersey Abreu has a lot of bounce and athletic ability to his game and seems to understand his tools and skills. He’s much quicker than his 7.29 60 time and can impact a game on the bases with his speed. With very good arm strength from the outfield, Abreu has the tools to be a fine defensive outfielder as well. At the plate, Abreu is a switch hitter with similar styles from both sides. He hits from a narrow stance with high hands and looks to make solid contact and run hard. When he stays short to the ball, Abreu has a very high percentage of solid contact and had a couple of good game hits during the showcase. Bobby will end up playing at a highest level college and he's a good student.

Abreau is a sophomore outfielder who already shows some good MLB tools. He ran a 7.02 on a slow track (he's much faster than that) and showed athleticism in the outfield. His arm is a strong one considering his age and size. We think he has a lot of potential as he grows over the next couple years. He swung the bat well with wood, not trying to over swing. He stayed in balance keeping the bat level through the zone. He showed a good approach at the plate, going with the pitch. Abreu has projectable hitting actions to go with a good defensive game. He is a very good student and will play at a very high level.
