He had solid arm strength during drills at 71 mph and threw down to 2.18 in games when he wasn't trying to rush. Fitzsimmons feet work well behind the plate and he has some quickness. Offensively, Fitzsimmons hits from an upright, no stride approach with busy hands in his load. He keeps his hands tight to his body during his swing and makes line drive contact, mostly to the opposite field. Fitzsimmons should continue to improve with added strength. He also took a turn on the mound throwing 75 mph with good life and a sharp 68 mph curveball that should get high school hitters out. Fitzsimmons is an excellent student off the field.

Tyler Fitzsimmons is a 5-11, 155 lb junior catcher from Wisconsin with a good frame and some projectability. He showed good defensive ability across the board that should continue to improve as he gets stronger and matures physically. Fitzsimmons threw 72 mph during drills with a best pop time of 2.11. He has a long release and low 3/4's release point that can be shortened up to improve his pop times. His best defensive asset are his hands. Fitzsimmons receives the ball easily with soft hands and does a good job moving laterally and keeping the ball in front of him. Pitchers should feel comfortable with him behind the plate. Offensively, Fitzsimmons hits with a no stride approach and tends to drift forward into the ball, which leads to his jaming himself when his hands don't get extended in time. When he stays back, Fitzsimmons shows good bat speed and can get the ball out into the gaps. Fitzsimmons plays the game hard and shows good hustle. He's a very good student.
