Derek Wrage is a 2014 LHP/1B with a 6-2 235 lb. frame from Newton, IA who attends Newton. Wrage has a large frame with a thick build. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. Wrage has an extended release and has an across body delivery. He gets some run on his fastball and showed some command of his fastball. Wrage throws a slow 1/7 curve ball with developing shape and spin to it. Defensivley, Wrage has developing actions around the bag with developing arm strength. He has nice hands. At the plate, Wrage has a balanced swing with a power approach. Outstanding student.

Lacks extension to delivery, needs to improve balance. Fastball has big sink and fade action. Low hand set at the plate, compact swing path, strong at contact, long in back, short load. Has pop, could use more extension, solid bat control. Very good student.
