Arencibia is a 5-11 senior right handed pitcher from Key West with a live, athletic body. We've seen him many times in the last 2 years and he threw consistent with his past performances in Fort Myers. Arencibia pitched mostly in the 85-87 mph range with his fastball and his 2-seam fastball had good running actions to it. Arencibia does a good job of hiding his pitches during his delivery and his fastball seems to jump on hitters, who often get late swings. His strikeout pitch is a 62 mph curveball, which while it might seem slow on the radar gun, has good tight spin and bite to it and hitters don't adjust well to the speed differential. Arencibia throws strikes and attacks hitters early in the count and usually registers high strike out totals when we've watched him pitch. Arencibia also plays third base when he's not pitching and shows some pop in his bat with a short swing and some bat speed. He is a good student.

Arencibia is a 5-10 junior right handed pitcher from Key West, Florida with a live, loose athletic body. He was the most dominant pitcher at the National Underclass Showcase, striking out 11 of the 13 hitters he faced and allowing one bad bounce hit. Arencibia is primarily a fastball pitcher who has fine tuned command of his 84-86 mph fastball. His arm is loose and easy and it’s easy to project him throwing harder in the future despite his relative lack of size. When Arencibia stays on top of his 62-64 mph curveball he gets good spin on it, but he tends to both slow down his delivery and arm stroke on his breaking ball and get under it at times. It’s definitely an area that he can improve on significantly in the future as there is no reason with his arm or delivery that he shouldn’t have a very nice breaking ball. It’s nice to see a young pitcher be able to dominate with his fastball, though. Arencibia is a good student as well.
