Robby Alcombrack is a 2006 catcher/third baseman from Grass Valley, Ca with a solid build that shows good strength at 6-1, 200 lbs. He's a very polished defensive catcher who excels in all parts of the defensive game and has caught top level pitchers since early in his teen years. Alcombrack threw 79 mph in drills with a best pop time of 1.84 and has a very, very accurate arm in games. His best skills defensively might be blocking the ball; he anticipates well and has quick feet and no fear of getting in front of the ball. Alcombrack has a balanced swing with quick strong hands and the ability to hit the ball hard to all fields. He's flashed power for us in the past and opened some eyes after the Nationals by winning the Home Run Derby at the AFLAC All-American Game, so you know the power potential is there. Overall, Alcombrack has a very mature game and adjusting to the college game at Arizona State, where he has committed, or to professional ball should not be a big step. Highest Level Prospect.

Robbie Alcombrack is a 2006 catcher from Grass Valley, California, with a solid frame and strong, durable build. Alcombrack has a body built to catch, with strong hands that transfer to his hitting as well. He shows good raw power, and likes to use the middle of the diamond with authority. The more you watch him play, the more you like him. He is a solid hitter with big time power potential. Alcombrack is energetic behind the dish with quality pop times (2.00) with a short and accurate release. Alcombrack will generate a lot of college interest at high level programs and some serious draft interest in 2006. Robbie is one of the top catching prospects in his class.

Alcombrack was one of the youngest players at the Showcase but also one of the top hitters. He has very strong hands and upper body strength for his age and has obviously done lots of hitting with wood. Alconbrack’s swing is short and compact and he has a very advanced ability to keep his hands back and explode through the ball. He hit a pea to right centerfield in the prospect game off an 89 mph fastball that was as pretty a swing as you’ll see from a 15 year old with a wood bat. Defensively, Alconbrack isn’t as advanced as he is with a bat in his hands but that would be a bit much to expect. He has soft hands and moves well behind the plate but still needs to iron out some kinks in his arm stroke. Overall, we expect Alconbrack to become one of the top hitters in the country in his class as he gets older.
