Patrick Hackett -- It must be something about New Jersey but Hackett is very similar to another Jersey catcher who played on the same team at the World Underclass, Jayson Hernandez, except that Hackett is a year older and hits left handed. Hackett takes a hard, full rip at the ball with very good bat speed. He has a quick trigger and made very good contact in both games and batting practice. Hackett looks like he’s going to hit at the next level and his swing even has some loft in it that could translate into some serious power. Patrick has good defensive skills, but could still improve his arm strength a bit. Definitely a next level prospect.

Hackett is a left-handed hitting catcher who we think projects just as well as an infielder. He showed good pop times at 2.12 and 2.14 but his infield actions were excellent. He showed quick feet and athleticism. In fact, we selected him for the Top Prospect game as a SS/3Bman and he looked sharp in the games. His bat is a good one showing quick hands, very good bat-speed and a real nice looking swing with wood. It was one of the top 10 overll hitting packages we saw over the weekend. At just 5 foot 8 and 165 pounds, Hackett will add strength and could become one of the Northeast's top hitting recruits next summer. Good follow. Patrick is a good student.
