Laico is a 2005 C from Weston, CT with a strong 5'10"/165 pound body. Behind the plate, he is a good catch and throw guy, with a quick release and a 2.06 pop time during workouts. He also shows good reactions as he blocks the ball extremely well. He does a good job of framing pitches, and shows very soft hands. At the plate, he has a nice, balanced approach with a short, quick swing which produced many line drives during batting practice and in games. Nick is a good student and can play.

Nick Laico is a 5'9" right handed hitting 2005 catcher from Weston, CT, with a slender build that isn’t close to being physically mature. He had a good approach at the plate with strong swing fundamentals, a short swing and some hand strength. Laico doesn’t get much extension to his swing, but did a very good job of centering the ball and hitting it hard to the middle of the field in games and in batting practice. Defensively, Laico threw and moved better in games than in the workouts, where he might have been trying to be too fast. More strength will help him behind the plate as well. He can hit, he can catch, he only needs to work on strengthening his arm and improving his pop times a bit. Nick is a good student.

Laico is a catcher with an effective bat. He can receive with nice hands and good mobility behind the dish. He showed that he can block and frame the pitch well also. His pop times were in the 2.31 - 2.40 range. His footwork was better than his arm strength. At the plate he showed a good looking swing and some line drive pop. He took to the live pitching and got 3 hits in his first game. He hit with runners in scoring position and showed some situational ability to his game. Nick is a very good student.
