Austin Potter is a 2007 SS/RHP from Beaverton HS, residing in Beaverton, OR, with a 6'2" 200 lb. frame. Potter was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase. Has a strong and athletic build. He is well-proportioned and basically has a very good frame and build. Offensively he starts with a slightly open stance with relaxed hands that show life and promise. Maintained good balance in his swing and swung with strength. He looked close to really figuring it out. Potter made good barrel contact in the games. The bat speed is in there though his swing trigger was a little late. He does have good future power potential to all fields. Defensively Potter has good hands and went to the ball well with decent angles. The ball exited his hand pretty well. He appeared to be a solid average defender at SS and in the future may be better at 3B. On the mound he pitched from an over the top slot and employed simple mechanics. There was some arm side action on his 79-81 mph FB. Potter showed good shape to his 63 mph CB. Pitching was clearly a secondary position for him. His physical presence was good and with very interesting abilities, he should be followed by D1 programs on the West Coast. More reps will significantly enhance all of his abilities.
