Nathan Chavez is a 6'1" 165 pound 2007 outfielder and right handed pitcher from Park Vista High School in Boynton Beach, Florida. He has a medium build that is very lean. Nathan hits with a narrow stance and dives into the plate. Chavez centers the ball well and uses the entire field. He has good bat speed and a line drive swing plane with good gap to gap power. He likes the ball down in the zone and stays on the ball very well. On the mound, he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. His arm is loose and lively with good arm speed. He hides the ball very well also. His fastball had some cut on it at 80 mph. He had a solid curveball with tight 12/6 rotation at 63 mph. He also threw a change up at 69 mph that is still developing. Nathan is also a good student.

Chavez is a young sophomore outfielder from Florida with a nice, projectable athletic build. He has long legs and a slender upper half but a nice frame to add strength. Chavez showed very well in workouts, showing a very strong outfield arm with above average carry and running a 7.3 60 with long, easy strides. At the plate, Chavez hits out of a very wide stance and even has a further small stride towards the pitcher. It’s an approach that creates balance but deprives Chavez of some leverage and bat speed in our opinion. His bat speed now is good for a sophomore and should continue to improve as he gets stronger. Chavez is a nice young prospect who is going to keep improving and should be followed closely. He is also a good student.
