Kyle Nickel -- Nickel is a young and lanky junior middle infielder from Florida. This young man can flat pick it in the field. Nickel showed great actions defensively with smooth hands and very quick feet. His infield arm strength is deceiving because Nickel is one of these fielders who is so balanced on the move that he never sets his feet firmly to throw and gets rid of the ball right away. We’ll take quick and accurate over slow and strong any day. How he develops his quickness over the next year will determine whether he’s a D1 shortstop or second baseman. He runs fairly well but it's still an area he could easily improve. Nickel has a good swing path now and sound fundamentals but his lack of upper body and hand strength keep him from driving the ball with consistency. He makes good contact, though, and should improve a lot in this area. College coaches pay attention, this kid can play at the highest levels. Kyle is a good student.
