Big strong "04" 1B with plus raw power. Plus bat speed, he can crush a baseball. Swung and missed a lot in the games but also hit a 385' line drive that he really smoked. Looked like he was pulling off the ball quite a bit in Ft Myers. A hitter to watch very closely.

McCamment is a powerful Infielder with Major League potential in his bat. He is a big junior (2004 graduate) at 6'3 and 215 pounds who should get a lot of division 1 College interest this spring. In the field McCamment worked out at 1B and 3B. His size and strength suit him best at 1B. He can make the plays and seems to know the game pretty well. He has excellent natural defensive ability at 1B. His feet work very well around the bag and he is extremely coachable. A plus at any level. The real story with McCamment is his bat. He showed the best looking swing in the event. He has a balanced posture, strong, quick hips, solid short stride and good lower to upper half timing. Mechanically, his upper half worked even better. His hands are quick and his bat speed is plus Major League level. He throws his hands toward the path of the ball and stays inside the ball while hitting out in front of the plate. His swing is tailor made to drive the middle of the field with authority. The ball came off his wood bat like a big leaguer. Including the backspin! Down the road, a hitting coach might spread him out a bit more, but for now everything looks outstanding. He ran a 7.2 in the 60 and shows some athleticism and body control. There are not many bats like his in his class and he projects real well for next year. We think he could be a good draft pick. He demonstrated, in every hitting drill, that he can pull with power, drive the other way with a level swing, with power, and he showed bottom hand control, with power. Watch him closely because there is no question that he has some of the top power hitting ability in his class. This is one serious hitting prospect. It’s fun to watch him swing the bat.
