Joseph Young is a 2005 catcher from Elverta, California. Young has a nice projectable body with agility and more strength to come. He showed good accurate pop times to second (2.11) with true on line carry. Offensively, he hits from a wide base with no stride and slight weight transfer towards contact. Young uses a strength approach. It's a simple no nonsense swing without bad habits. He comes to play and showed no fear at the plate or behind it. Young has the ability to hit balls the other way with authority in games. He is a middle line up bat at his present level, with a chance to put up some big offensive numbers. He also has the ability to handle any pitching staff. Joseph is a good student.

Joseph Young -- Young is a 5-10 catcher from California who has done a nice job of developing his upper body strength and hand strength. He swung the bat well in batting practice, showing us a quick, high average line drive type of swing with a good trigger and load. Young has excellent body life and quickness for a catcher his age and uses it both on the bases and in receiving the ball. He has plenty of bounce behind the plate and impressed us with his hustle and competitiveness. The only flaw in Young’s game right now is his throwing. He shows arm strength, but could improve his pop times a lot with better throwing technique. He is definitely a very good college prospect already and has some room to get even better yet.
