Jeff Hummel -- Hummel is an athletic looking junior outfielder from Florida with a medium build and some strength. He hits from a narrow stance with no load and a small open stride. This doesn’t give Hummel much chance to get extension to his swing or develop bat speed. With his strength, we have to believe there’s more there with a different approach. Hummel showed good arm strength from the outfield and also pitched twice, throwing 76-80 mph with a 65-66 mph curveball that broke late. He was very effective because he hides the ball very well in his delivery and pitches low in the strike zone. Jeff is a very good student.
