Mitch Vanden Berge is a 2009 RHP/1B with a 6'6'', 185 lb. frame from Sioux Falls, SD who attends Lincoln HS. He has an extra tall, lean build with minimal present strength. Vanden Berge has a tall delivery with a short stride out front and a pole vault delivery over his front side. He has an overhand release point and falls off hard to the first base side on release to get his arm through. Vanden Berge's fastball was 78-81 mph and usually up in the strike zone. His breaking ball was a 12/6 curveball with soft spin. Vanden Berge's size and leverage give him a chance to develop as a pitcher but he's going to have to make plenty of adjustments to his delivery to take the next step. He's an excellent student off the field.
