Jacob Spelbring is a 2008 RHP/3B/2B with a 6'0'', 205 lb. frame from Round Rock, TX who attends Stony Point. Jacob has a thick build with present strength. He looked good on first base with good feet and range. His hands work, and he makes a quick exchange and gets the ball out quickly. He has arm strength, and made a top throw across the infield on 82 mph. He has a quiet swing at the plate from a high hand set and shows good bat speed. He gets leverage into the ball and stays balanced through his swing. He loads well, and can drive the ball when he gets his body into it. On the mound he works from an over the top arm slot and has good mechanics. He works somewhat quickly with good tempo, and has a simple motion. He is a medium effort thrower, and he has arm side run on his fastball at times. His top fastball came in at 84 mph. Spelbring also features a solid slider that topped at 74 mph.
