Jerry Brown is a 2005 shortstop from Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Jerry got hurt the night before the Midwest Top Showcase during his high school football game, but showed his competitiveness by still wanting to participate. However, we didn't get to see the same player we had previously seen during the Spring Showcase because the injury didn't allow Jerry to perform to his normal standards. We are going to report on the skills we have seen from Jerry when he is healthy. Jerry is a 6'0", 185 lbs., with strength and athletic actions. He is polished defensively with good actions, soft hands, and a quick arm. He has plus footwork and shows good balance, especially coming through the ball. Brown shows good power when he makes consistent contact. When his swing is short and to the ball, Jerry shows some strong offensive potential. He is very knowledgeable of the game, and showed his competitiveness and toughness by still participating in this showcase. Gerald is a very good student.

IF Gerald Brown: Brown is a junior infielder from Wisconsin with some strength and athletic actions. He is a primary shortstop right now but his speed and quickness will move him to third base in the future. Brown’s defensive actions are smooth and polished. His hands are soft and he maintains good balance coming through the ball. Brown’s release is good, although he will rush at times, and his arm strength is good for third base. Brown’s biggest adjustment will come at the plate. When he gets the bat head out to the ball he shows good power. Brown has a hand hitch, though, and is prone to getting started late and jamming himself. With a shorter, quicker swing to the ball, Brown has some very good offensive potential.
