Carlos Mercedes is a FA OF with a 6'2'', 180 lb. frame from San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. He has a broad shouldered build and looks much bigger than his listed size. Mercedes has playable left field tools but he's on the field for his bat and power potential. He has an aggressive swing from a tall stance and very good bat speed and extension while maintaining balance and leverage. The ball explodes fast off his bat with authority on contact and carries a long way. Mercedes' swing will get a bit long at times and like most big power hitters, there could be some strike outs in his future, but he has the kind of serious power professional teams are looking hard for.
