Andrew Acker is a 2006 LHP from Alta Loma HS, residing in Alta Loma, CA, with a 6'0", 160 lb. frame. He has a lean and lithe build, certain to add strength and mass in the coming years. Acker pitches from an over the top slot with a long, deep extension type arm action on the backside. He maintains good body control during most of his delivery. On the arm side, Acker commands his fastball (73-74) well and is able to turn it over. He generally demonstrates decent feel with the fastball. His curveball (62-63) is his best pitch. It has 12/6 rolling action and decent depth. Acker's repertoire also includes a change-up (64-67) that he throws with good arm speed and is able to turn over. He has the ability to throw strikes with three pitches and at the right level he can be effective as a change of pace lefty to complement harder throwing members of a pitching staff.

Acker is a 6-0, 160 lb. 2006 switch hitting left handed pitcher from California with a slender frame. Acker has an athletic body with room to fill. Acker threw a 74 mph fastball, 65 mph curveball, and a 66 mph change up. Acker has good solid mechanics and throws downhill. Acker showed a good ability to hide the ball. Acker throws a fastball that jumps at hitters. Acker throws lots of strikes and works quickly on the mound. Acker gets good movement on his fastball like most left handers, and his over hand curveball was effective. Acker has a very good change up with good arm speed. With some added strength, Acker will continue to develop as a pitcher.

Acker is a lean, athletic 6-0 left handed pitcher from California with a projectable body for adding strength. He has a low effort delivery with a compact arm stroke and very clean overall pitching mechanics that need little adjustment. Acker retired 9 straight hitters at the Academic Showcase, including 5 strikeouts, with a 71-74 mph fastball that often had very good 2-seam movement down in the strike zone. Acker also threw a 59-60 mph curveball and 61-64 mph change up with good affect. He was able to spot the ball well and when he missed his spots it was usually down and out of hitting zone. Everything adds up well for Acker right now except for adding velocity to his pitches. He’ll be the type of southpaw who can pitch with below average fastball because of his command and pitching ability. Excellent student.

Andrew Acker is a 2006 left handed pitcher/firstbaseman from Alta Loma, California with a tall lean build 6 ft. 0 155 pounds. He pitches from a 3/4 slot with a long arm action, with not much extension out front. He has a finesse style delivery and uses mostly his upper half. His fastball topped out at 72 mph with run. He throws a sharp 1-7 curveball with good depth. His change-up showed sinking action at 61 mph. He is a switch hitter with a similar approach from both sides. He hits from a wide base with little or no stride. He is a contact style hitter with a line drive approach. He showed good bat control, and hits the ball where it is pitched. Andrew is a 2006 grad from Alta Loma High School in Southern California and stands 6'0" with an average frame and a young body. He has a lot of room for added muscle and has plenty of time to get stronger. He shows a good tempo to his delivery, balanced with some deception. Andrew's curveball has big break at 61-62 and it's a good out pitch for him. He also threw a change up at 65-68 mph. He showed pitchability and feel for the strike zone with all of his pitches. At the plate, Andrew showed good balance from both sides of the plate and solid defensive skills at 1B. Added strength will definitely help him with the bat as well. He's a projectable kid that has a good idea on the mound and can play at the next level. Andrew is also an outstanding student.
