Andres Tamayo is a 6'1", 200 lb. first baseman from Miami, Florida. He is a right handed hitter with a rotational type swing, and shows a knee lift trigger with average bat speed. He could get more leverage help from his lower half. Andres' best ability at the plate is that he is consistently able to get the bat head to the ball and hit it solidly to all parts of the field. Andres is a high average type of hitter that should develop raw power with a slight lift in his swing plane. He has good actions around first base and soft hands. He also pitched a little, but his bat is the ticket.

Andres Tamayo is a 2005 1B/P from Miami. Tamayo has a solid body with some very good present strength. He swung one of the more effective bats in Fort Myers, lining four straight hits at one point and showing the ability to both turn on the ball hard and to keep his hands back on breaking stuff and hit it to right field. Tamayo’s approach is balanced and confident and he looks like a good high average hitter. The best thing that Tamayo can work on now to take his game to the next level is his overall body life and quickness. Tamayo also pitched a couple of innings, topping out at 75 mph on his fastball with an effective split finger change. He will hit with power and he has good hands defensively.
