Derek Zahka is a 2009 SS/RHP/3B from Medway HS, residing in Medway, Massachusetts, with a 5'11"/175 pound frame. He hits from a slightly open stance with solid bat speed. Derek looks to pull the ball and has solid power. He is a line drive pull hitter. Zahka has solid range in the infield and moves to the ball well. He has a solid release at 78 mph and an accurate arm. Derek needs to work on softer hands and being quicker with his transfer. On the mound, he pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with long arm action and a downward plane. Zahka has solid mechanics with effort in his delivery. He keeps his fastball down at 78 mph. Derek has a straight changeup at 67 mph and an 11-5 breaking curveball at 65 mph. He is an excellent student.
