CHAT TRANSCRIPT: Kendall Rogers took your questions
The start of college baseball season always is a challenging time for many teams across the country, especially those elite teams whom everyone is gunning for.
For the most part, the elite squads in our preseason rankings handled their own the first weekend of the season. Top-ranked Florida took two of three from Cal State Fullerton, Stanford crushed Vanderbilt at home, South Carolina cruised past VMI and Rice did a clean sweep of Florida International.
Following its 0-3 weekend at Stanford, Vanderbilt dropped from No. 12 to No. 17, allowing some teams to gain some traction in the Perfect Game Top 50.
UCLA, which dropped a tough home series at home to Maryland, dropped from No. 19 to No. 33 in the rankings, while St. John’s dropped from No. 28 to No. 38 following an unimpressive weekend at the Big East/Big Ten Challenge.
Teams that dropped out of the rankings include Oklahoma State, Alabama, Wichita State, Coastal Carolina and Michigan State. Meanwhile, teams that entered the rankings include Florida Atlantic (34), USC (41), Texas Tech (42), Missouri (43) and Pepperdine (50).
The PG Top 50 is released each Monday morning during the college baseball season.
