PREMIUM ANALYSIS: Looking back and analyzing Houston vs. Kentucky

HOUSTON – No one will ever say Kentucky right-handed pitcher Alex Meyer doesn’t have the ability to be an elite pitcher at both the collegiate and professional level.

It’s just a matter of putting everything together.

Meyer had his good and bad in Saturday’s 8-5 loss to an improved Houston club. The righty struck out six and allowed four runs on five hits in six innings. That may not seem impressive, but his readings on radar guns were extremely impressive.

Meyer was consistently 94-96 with his fastball for much of the game, and even dropped down to 81-82 mph on several occasions.

Meyer is the No. 11 college junior for the upcoming MLB draft by Perfect Game, and has an ERA of 3.86 ERA in 18 2/3 innings.
