College Top 25: April 15

Unlike last week, we have some changes in the Top-5 and most notably, after the dust settled, we have a new name at the top. As it should be, life at the top proved challenging and we were once again reminded that on any given night or weekend, any club is vulnerable to defeat. There are some clubs that continue their historic runs, and we once again welcome several new faces to the Top-25 list. So, let’s dive in once again.

For the first time this year, the Texas A&M Aggies (32-4) take over the No. 1 spot after their sweep of Vanderbilt in resounding fashion on the weekend. They now lead the nation in wins and are (11-4) in the SEC West, one game back of first place. Arkansas (30-5) suffered their first series loss of the year at the hands of Alabama and drop to No. 2 but remain atop the SEC West. One of the most consistent teams in the last month, the Tennessee Volunteers (30-6) swept struggling LSU and now ascend to No. 3 in the country. Keeping the West Coast represented in the Top-5, Oregon State (29-5) won another series and maintain their slim lead over Oregon in the Pac-12 standings. Rounding out the Top-5, the Clemson Tigers (29-6) dropped their first series since March of 2023 to NC State but still hold a 1-game lead in the ACC Atlantic.

The No. 7 Kentucky Wildcats (30-5) continue their amazing run through SEC play and are now (14-1) in the East with a 4-game lead in the division. Indiana State (27-7) logged a perfect week and pushed themselves inside the Top-15 for the first-time landing at No. 14 this week. No. 15 Oklahoma State (25-11) continues their tear and are now just a game out of the lead in the Big 12. Meanwhile, No. 16 Louisiana (28-9) did end their 16-game win streak in the midweek but swept Marshall to move to (14-1) in the Sun Belt bolstering their 5-game lead.

The Arizona Wildcats (21-13) have the longest winning streak in the country currently at 11-games and jump into this week’s poll at No. 19 as they sit a half game back in the Pac-12 race. After sweeping then ranked UCF, the West Virginia Mountaineers (22-13) debut at No. 21 and held on to a tie at the top of the Big-12 Conference standings. The Oregon Ducks (25-10) won their 5th consecutive Pac-12 series and have methodically worked their way to the No. 23 ranking this week. Last, but surely not least, Lamar (29-6) has won 6 in a row and 9 of their last 10 as they make their 2024 debut at No. 25 to round things out.
