Another impressive day for the 17u division of the PG Super25 National Championship wrapped up at the Boombah Sports Complex. Wednesday was filled with big-time players showcasing their ability as these are some of the players that really stood out.

Vaughn Grissom (2019, Orlando, Fla.) patrolled the infield for FTB Powerhouse on Wednesday. Grissom’s impressive 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame projects well with plenty of room to grow. He showed plus range at shortstop as well as an above average arm. Grissom also showed great speed on the basepaths and some power with his downhill bat path which creates a good amount of back spin off the bat.

Nicholas Matos (2019, Kissimmee, Fla.) also showed promise at the plate for FTB. Matos had a quick swing and a fluid, level bat path. He has an opposite field approach and above average speed. Matos also showed his ability to run the bases by taking extra bases whenever he could.

Justin Anglero (2018, Brooklyn, N.Y.) was nothing short of amazing on the mound on Wednesday for the Salty Dogs. Anglero threw seven shutout innings with five strikeouts and was able to run his fastball up to 86 mph while sitting anywhere from 80-84. He also threw a 11-to-5 breaking curveball at 67 mph.

The Ducks threw two more impressive arms on Wednesday. Casey Daiss (2019, Clermont, Fla.) started the game against Stars Baseball 17u Red throwing 4 2/3 innings with five strikeouts while giving up three runs. Daiss was able to run his fastball up to 90 mph, sitting at 84-86 with a 71 mph curveball, 77 mph slider and a developing changeup. With an over-the-top arm slot, he is able to throw downhill using his lower half to generate power which shows on the fastball.

The other righty arm that TNXL put on the mound was Dylan Simmons (2019, Jacksonville, Fla.). Simmons was also up to 90 mph with his fastball. He was also able to throw his slider for strikes with great command. The Florida State commit also was impressive at the plate going 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.

Harry Padden (2019, Elmer, N.J.) was displaying some useful tools on Wednesday for Mid-Atlantic Show – Kerr. Padden went 2-for-3 on the day against Stars Baseball 17u Red. He showed off a short and very compact swing as well as plus speed around the basepaths. It’s easy to like his aggressiveness on the basepath as he takes bags at the correct time and always is looking to take another base out of the box.
