Johnson is the son of former Major League right-hander and current Blue Jays roving pitching instructor Dane Johnson, which makes his silky smooth delivery and loose, fast arm action easy to explain. Johnson has been up to 95 mph in the past few months but remains extremely projectable physically, with a slender 6-foot-4, 180-pound build that should develop even higher velocities. His best secondary pitch is a hard downer curveball in the upper-70s that is one of the very best ever at the high school level.
