Jesse Covington is a 2028 SS/RHP, MIF with a 6-1 150 lb. frame from Greensboro, NC who attends Westchester Country Day. Tall frame with lean build and great physical projection. Good runner, ran a 7.02 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter, high hands and back elbow in the stance, short swing with good bat speed and gets extended through the ball. Peppered both gaps with obvious carry and strength off the barrel. Bat speed really stands out. Primary shortstop, arm really jumps off the page, stays under control getting to grounders, hands work well out front, quick and clean transfer, comes out of the hand extremely well with carry and accuracy across the diamond, recorded throws up to 84 mph. Secondary right-handed pitcher, full windup, small rocker step into a belt high lift, sinks into the back leg early, loose arm path with good present stuff and more to project on. Ran the fastball up to 83 mph (2141 RPM), showed good feel for a changeup with heavy fading action in the low-70s (1660 RPM). Also flashed slider in the upper-60s.
