Robert Ruff is a 2019 IF/RHP/OF with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Bulverde, TX who attends Smithson Valley HS. Slender frame with a wiry build, 7.16 runner who utilizes a middle of the field to pull side approach at the plate. Shows the ability to get the barrel to the ball consistently and flashes present power. Stays on his backside and looks to leverage the ball with extension at contact. Displays the ability to charge and attack balls on the run in the IF with short chopping steps to get in position to throw. Also pitches with an easy effort arm action through a high 3/4 arm slot and full release out front. The fastball has a hint of arm side run while sitting in the upper 70's, topping at 80 mph. Curveball flashes sharp at times with 11/5 shape, the slider presently grades better with more consistent bite and depth with 10/4 shape. Good student.
