Xavier Mendoza is a 2019 C/3B with a 5-7 165 lb. frame from Walnut, CA who attends Diamond Bar. Compact frame with a solid build. Frame shows present strength throughout. Primary catcher with a low set and good hip flexion. Gains some ground while working out of crouch. Quick, clean exchanges with a compact arm cirlce. Gets rid of baseball quickly with slight uphill plane. Creates slight recoil at release. Throws have some carry to the bag with accuracy. Topped at 69 mph, best workout pop time of 2.11. Right handed hitter with a spread, balanced stance. Hands launch on a direct path to contact creating a downhill swing plane. Flashed good strength at contact that produced solid jump off the barrel when squared. Primarily used a mid-field approach with ability to split the gaps when front side arrived on time and in sync. Good student as well.
