Bijan Palme is a 2017 RHP/3B with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Santa Barbara, CA who attends Santa Barbara HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and broad shoulders. Projects for additional size with strength. Right handed pitcher with an easy paced delivery to gather. Drives downhill creating good on line direction, lands slightly closed at times. Quick arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot that generates good extension through finish. Strong front side at landing with ability to work over and creating good on line momentum. Fastball has some heaviness to it with late wiggle, topped at 81 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape with tight spin and two plane break. Also flashed a changeup in the low 70's that said down in the strike zone with deceptive arm speed. Mixed and matched all three pitches well. Good command with the fastball on the edges. Off speed offering flash command of the edges while consistently located down in the zone. Right handed hitter with a tall, open stance and leg lift trigger. Good balance throughout swing with a mid-field approach. Consistently barreled up baseball with a downhill, line drive swing plane. Shows some strength at contact to drive the baseball to the opposite field gap. Also worked out defensively from the infield smooth footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions with smooth glove to hand exchanges into throw. Quick release across the infield from a low three-quarters arm slot. Throws produces some on line carry with accuracy to the bag. Good student as well.
