Nick Hays is a 2019 SS/2B/OF with a 5-5 120 lb. frame from Carlsbad, CA who attends La Costa Canyon HS. Smaller frame with a compact, athletic build. Projects for some additional strength. Right handed hitter with a narrow, straight stance and compact hand set. Shows rotational lower half actions into contact. Short, simple inside plane with a line drive approach. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice creating line drive, ground ball contact to the middle of the field. Worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth funneling glove actions out front. Clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Continues momentum through throws well across the infield. Effecient first step angles when ranging to both sides. Solid tools that will continue to develop with physical development and repetition. Very good student as well.
