Max Gruber is a 2019 C with a 5-9 151 lb. frame from Carlsbad, CA who attends La Costa Canyon HS. Gruber has a medium build with room to fill out and add strength. Hits from an open stance with a high and set. Shows good bat speed with a line drive swing plane and simple approach. Consistent contact to all fields. Defensively, young actions behind plate, sure hands on transfer and release, gets squares to target on throws. Works hard behind plate with good lateral movement blocking balls in dirt.
