Jay Maloney is a 2017 3B/IF with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Auburn, CA who attends Placer HS. Maloney has a lean build with room to fill out and gain strength. Hits from a square stance, leg lift trigger with a deep hand load. Linear hand path to the ball with a line drive swing plane and good extension out front. Has an aggressive approach to hitting and makes solid contact. Showed quick hands and solid barrel control during the games. Defensively, tends to sit back on baseballs at him but shows good footwork and hands on the move with good rhythm fielding the baseball. Also pitched. Long arm action to high 3/4 arm slot. Mixed in 11/5 curveball. Outstanding Student.
