Charlie James is a 2019 MIF/RHP with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from La Canada, CA who attends Loyola HS. Medium frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Right handed hittter with a straight stance, leg lift trigger and high hand/back elbow set. Loose, line drive swing plane and creates very good extension through contact. Primarily uses a mid-field approach. Shows the ability to turn barrel to contact with bat speed to the pull side gap. Worked out defensively from the infield showing clean funneling glove actions out front. Smooth, fundamental footwork while surrounding the baseball as well. Gets ball out quickly with compact glove to hand exchanges. Throws produces some online carry with accuracy. Also pitched using a simple leg lift delivery. Drives downhill and on line to plate. Medium arm cirlce with slight hook at separation. Releases from a high three-quarters arm slot with good extension through finsih. Fastball has slight arm side run with sinking action down in the zone. Curveball has softer spin with some shape in the mid 60's. Flashed a changeup in the mid 60's as well that has some fading action. Solid two way prospect that will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
