JD Dineen is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Corona, CA who attends Eleanor Roosevelt HS. Medium frame with an solid, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Left handed pitcher with a medium leg lift delivery. Compact arm circle at separation and comes to a slight pause a peak of leg lift. Releases from a high three-quarters to over top arm slot through extension. Lower half drives to the plate while landing at a slightly closed position at times. Fastball showed good arm side life with downhill angle, topping at 72 mph with the ability to work to both edges. Curveball has 1/7 shape with good spin and depth. Went right after hitters, pounding the zone with all pitches. Induced weak ground ball, fly ball contact. Left handed hitter with a straight, balanced stance and high back elbow at load. Lower half launches to contact with rotational actions. Weight stays behind baseball while hands launch to contact on a slightly lofted swing plane. Shows the barrel control through the zone to hit to all fields. Also worked out defensively from first base showing smooth funneling glove actions out front. Shows some range to each side with fundamentally footwork around the bag while setting up to receive throws. Throws across the infield with a three-quarters arm slot that produces carry and accuracy to the bag. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and fluidity.
