2023 High School All State Select Championship (2024-2025 Grads)
Ethan Staples is a 2025 RHP/OF with a 5-11 145 lb. frame from Sequim, WA who attends Sequim. Features a medium sized lean build with plenty of room to fill. Ran a 7.52 60-yd dash. In the OF, he showed an aggressive approach to the ball where he fields it off to the side while keeping mometum through recepetion. Gets into a longer side shuffle and arm action that gets off accurate throws with avg. arm strength up to 80 mph. At the plate, he sits in an athletic stance. Hands push back and load into a slight arm bar. Uses a simple forward move. Showed a more handsy swing throwing the barrel on a more direct path with avg. bat speed through and a level finish. Showed some inconsistent timing throughout his round but when on-time it was more LD oriented through the middle of the field. On the mound, he side steps into a mid chest knee lift. Arm works long/loose in the back and to release at a lower ¾ slot. Gets into a smaller sit in his driveleg/hip showing more tall/fall type mechanics. More east/west plane of rotation where he spins off his front side a bit at landing. He ran the fastball upt to 76 that flashed some arm side run. Mix in a developing upper 60s sluvy breaker that showed some sharpness and that he had feel for in-zone. Also flashed a low 70s changeup that had fading action to it.
