Territorial Cup

The Sun Devils (23-16, 12-8) shut out the Wildcats in Tucson for the first time since May 11, 1972.

ASU took a 9.5-6.5 lead in the overall Territorial Cup standings as head coach Tim Esmay tallied his 14th win over Arizona and the program improved to 10-5 in series’ against the Wildcats in the past 15 years. ASU is a point away from winning the head-to-head competition with four sports still undecided.

ASU moved to 215-240 all-time against Arizona, including 192-124 since 1959…the ASU pitching staff has turned in nine consecutive quality starts…ASU is 10-2 this season when they do not commit an error.

Close 2-1 game, and the Cougs had two runners in scoring position in the 9th, but failed to scratch even one. Game three coming up.

Weather looks pretty good for them. Better that in Corvallis.

Wildcats 2-0 after one in Tucson. Not many fans in Hi Corbett, at least from what I saw of the visiting side. Don't Devils trvel well two hours away for their rival series? Whaaaaa?

Okay they just showed the home crowd. Looks decent. Devils are probably trying to conserve gas and help reduce global warming.

Scoring update

Stanford-Cal series finishes tomorrow. But I just realized that that double-header between Utah and Nevada was not postponed; it was canceled. So they only played two games. That screws up the three-game predictions and our tiebreaker. So I will probably zero out that series and count the other six as if they were seven, like we did last week. It'll mean decimal scores again and improved separation. Not as good as a tiebreaker, but probably good enough.

Scores posted tomorrow.

Dam. This is lame. All because Utah can't go out and play because it's so cold. Mad

If Stanford wins tomorrow, there will be a three-way tie for first this week; if Cal wins a four-way tie. I'd like to change the combined score tiebreaker to tomorrow's Cal-Stanford game, but ONLY if all eight players jump in and post new guesses before game time tomorrow (6pm). One small change: You still cannot pick the same number as another person, but you can vote in half-point increments. So if someone takes your favorite lucky 7, you can pick 7.5. trying to accommodate everyone. The first two games' combined scores were 11 and 5.

I'll go first. Combined score for Stan-Cal: 7.5.

Just double up the nev - Utah finals...game 1 is also the game 3 final and game 2 is also the game 4 final. It's not ideal but at least all the math works out. I don't think it necessarily helps me...I'm just suggesting it for the sake of simplicity as I doubt everyone will reply back in time.

Good number FB. Good Beavers tend to go with 6s or 9s. The combination of 6s and 9s are often winners too.

Rivalry week scores
Because not everyone gave a new combined score, I dropped it for this week. And I zeroed out the Utah series and averaged everyone’s score by six series instead of seven, so every point was worth 1.167 pts.
As mentioned, we have a four-way tie for first this week, followed by a three-way tie for fifth.

    Running totals and averages
I’ve dropped those who have not played at least five weeks. Borgguy, having missed the last two, cannot miss any more if he wants to remain in the running.

Well heck, after last weeks implosion, I am hanging on by a thread. Need to up my game this week. The big question is can washington regain their mojo? With the beavs on the horizon, I feel like this is a runaway train. Go beavs.. Ug I said it.
