6/15/2015 3:19:51 PM
Navy (9) Highlights

Joseph Pasquill (2017 C, San Diego, CA): Singled and stole a base in the 5th inning, always looking for the next base whether on a hit or whether he's stealing. Very heady baseball player with high baseball IQ.

Robert Schlesier (2017 SS, San Diego, CA): Had a pair of singles for the Navy team on Sunday, showing quick hands with inside-out approach that makes hard contact with consistency.

Zack Kopstein (2016 RHP, Tiburon, CA): Kopstein racked up 8 strikeouts over his 4 innings of work, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits. The rising junior pitched with a heavy low-mid 80's FB, complemented by a quality curveball/slider combo.

Gabriel Barthelmass (2016 OF, Laguna Niguel, CA): Barthelmass continues to show off impressive bat to ball skills with power projection at the next level. He added another hard hit single in Sunday's game, bringing his weekend total to 3.

Maroon (8) Highlights

Preston Price (2016 RHP, Vista, CA): Price was very impressive on the mound on Sunday, racking up 9 strikeouts in only 4 innings of work. His fastball sat 84-87 with very good life to the arm side, and he climbed the ladder with the FB at 87-88 to get swings and misses. His curveball is an advanced pitch with very sharp 11/5 break and tons of depth.

Carter Loewen (2016 RHP, Abbotsford, BC): Loewen was impressive over a quick 2 inning outing, getting a pair of strikeouts and flashing high-end projection and ability. He worked 82-85 with his fastball, coming downhill with it hard and spotting it to both sides. Showed advanced feel for a two-plane slider at 68-71 as well. Highly projectable arm. He also contributed offensively with a pair of hard singles, showing quality bat to ball skills and a smooth stroke.

Justin Oleary (2016 RHP, Carlsbad, CA): Justin OLeary showed off a very good approach on Sunday, coupled with a very projectable frame and already-good bat speed, he doubled up the gap. Swing has natural lift in it and he should hit for even more power as he fills out his frame.

Michael Larwa (2016 SS, Lakeside, CA): Larwa got the scoring started for the Maroon team in the 3rd inning by stroking a hard double, then eventually coming around to score 2 batters later. Showed quality contact skills with good speed on the bases.

Cole Pilar (2016 C, Monrovia, CA): Pilar went 2-2 in Sunday's game with a pair of well struck singles, and driving in Larwa for the first run of the game for the Maroon team. Hits from a semi-squatted stance with excellent bat speed and feel for the barrel. Uses lower half well and generates good whip through the zone.
