WACO, Texas -- UCLA head coach John Savage isn’t a fan of rebuilding campaigns.

Not too long ago, when the Bruins lost some key players to graduation or the MLB draft, there was a good chance they’d have trouble rebounding the next campaign. However, things have greatly changed for the Bruins over the past five seasons, thanks to Savage and his coaching staff, and some outstanding recruiting.

Still, what the Bruins already are overcoming this season in terms of personnel losses is very impressive. To put things in perspective, the Bruins finished last season with a very respectable .304 batting average. From that team, the Bruins had five players finish last season with batting averages of .310 or better.

The Bruins lost all five -- Jeff Gelalich, Beau Amaral, Tyler Heineman, Trevor Brown and Cody Keefer -- to the MLB draft last summer. Yet, this program just continues to press on, at least with wins and losses, as if not much has changed.
