Jarred Cosart is a 2008 RHP/1B/OF with a 6'3'', 175 lb. frame from League City, TX who attends Clear Creek HS. He has a loose and long limbed build with some projection. Cosart throws from a high energy delivery with a quick arm and some effort and fall off on release. He has a overhand release point and has to pull his head off the plate to get his arm through. Cosart's fastball was 89-93 mph with good life at the plate. His best off speed pitch was a upper 70's change up that he had very good feel for and lots of confidence in throwing it. Cosart's curveball lacked velocity at 71 mph and will need some work. Cosart has excellent arm strength and physical projection but he's going to have to tone down his mechanics and smooth things out to be consistently successful at the next level. Cosart is also a solid position prospect who plays all over the field and plays with energy. He hit from a spread stance with a long, line drive swing that showed some bat speed. Cosart is an excellent student.

Jarred Cosart is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from League City, TX, who attends Clear Creek High School. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Cosart showed that he is one of the most talented pitchers in the 2008 class. He has a good pitcher's frame with a projectable body. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a very quick arm. The quickness of his arm and future strength gains give Cosart big time velocity projection. He gets good life on his fastball, and also threw a 2-seamer at 85-86 with running action. Mixed in a 74 mph CB and a 76 mph CH. He got depth and sharpness to his curveball with an 11/5 break. He maintained arm speed on his CH with sinking action. He has a chance to have 3 very good pitches at his disposal. Great upside on the mound. Also showed ability with the bat in his hand. He has very quick hands with bat speed through the zone. He stays balanced through his swing and got leverage at the point of contact causing power potential. He is a must follow, and is an outstanding student as well.
